The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bulloch County are located at 515 Denmark St. in Statesboro, Georgia. The original Club was the outcome of a vision of a small group of community leaders. In 1998 this group set out to establish a youth oriented program in Bulloch County, Georgia. In 2001 a community needs assessment was conducted in Bulloch County and the results determined that there was a need for a major youth community center with engaging programs. There were a number of different avenues to persue but after careful deliberation it was felt that the programming at the Boys & Girls Clubs was the best fit for our community's needs.
On August 18, 2001 the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County opened its doors to the community. When the Club opened the gym and some of the other areas of the facility were still under construction. The Club was only able to accommodate 235 children at that time and we had over 500 children on the waiting list. The community's need for after-school care and a recreation center was evident at the inception of the Club. The Boys & Girls Club began with only one Unit, known as the Denmark Unit. Since 2001 we have had two additions and with the Portal Unit, located in the Town of Portal, and the Elvera Mays Teen Center which is behind the Denmark Unit.

In addition, members who have attended the Club for the past four years have increased their GPA by at least one letter grade.
